Friends of the Burke-Gilman Trail has a representative on SDOT's Design Advisory Committee, which has been meeting for the past month or two - the DAC has representatives from other community groups, from local businesses, and from experts in trail design. Their job is to take the '5% design' from the final Environmental Impact Statement report and translate that into a fully completed design by the end of 2017. It's expected that construction will begin in early 2018

Besides the monthly general DAC meetings, specific 'segment' workshops have taken place as well, with SDOT organizing the Missing Link into three distinct sections, from east to west as below:

Section 3 - Along NW 45th, from 11th NW (Fred Meyer) to the intersection with Shilsole Ave(current cycle track)
Section 2 - Shilshole Ave from about the Ballard Bridge to 24th NW/Market Street
Section 1 - NW Market Street from 24th NW to the Chittenden Locks

Though all DAC meetings are open to the public, SDOT is reaching out nowto the broader community for input and guidance and have scheduled an open house for next week. Many Friends will be there, as will our DAC representative and alternate. We hope you can stop by, learn more about the process and timeline, and provide input.
